The Department of Mathematics at the California Institute of Technology invites applications for Sherman Fairchild and Scott Russell Johnson Instructorships in Mathematics, beginning September 2021.
Sherman Fairchild and Scott Russell Johnson Instructorships in Mathematics will be offered to candidates within six years of having received their PhD who show strong research promise, preferably in one of the areas in which the Caltech Mathematics Faculty is currently active.
Initial appointments are for three years with a possible extension. Appointees will be expected to fulfill teaching duties (two one-quarter courses per academic year), pursue their own research program, and be in residence even when not teaching. Summer can be used for one month vacation, research and other scholarly activities.
