Postdoctoral Position in High Energy Physics

Caltech’s experimental high energy physics Mu2e group has an opening for a Postdoctoral Scholar position. Depending on experience, an appointment as a Senior Postdoctoral Scholar may be possible. The Mu2e experiment is a search for physics beyond the standard model by looking for the charged lepton flavor violating process µ e mediated in the field of a nucleus. Mu2e is presently under construction with physics data anticipated in 2023.

Caltech is involved with Mu2e in several areas, with our primary responsibilities on the CsI electromagnetic calorimeter. We are testing crystals for various performance measures, responsible for a 6 MeV source calibration system, and heavily invested in simulation and reconstruction software development. Our group is also working on the online software and on the trigger for the experiment.

The group also has plans to participate in the LDMX dark matter experiment, currently in the proposal stages.

Candidates should submit a CV and statement of research interests as well as arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to Professors David Hitlin (hitlin@caltech.edu) and Frank Porter (fcp@caltech.edu).
